The latest adaptation of Emily Brontë’s novel is causing a huge buzz, while dividing viewers into fans and staunch opponents of Emerald Fennell’s vision. But it’s not the director’s first rodeo – her two previous films evoked strong responses as well.
Fennell’s feature debut, Promising Young Woman, told the story of 30-year-old Cassie, on a mission to avenge her friend who was raped by a group of college students. The film, starring Carey Mulligan, won an Oscar and a BAFTA for Best Original Screenplay.
The second film in Fennell’s career, Saltburn, focuses on Oliver (Barry Keoghan), a young man from a middle-class family who wheedles his way into a friendship with handsome fellow Oxford student Felix (Jacob Elordi) to get close to his aristocratic family. The flick, whose plot bears more than a passing resemblance to The Talented Mr Ripley, received Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations.

US
In the United States, you can rent Emerald Fennell’s first feature for $3.99 or buy it for $14.99 on Amazon Prime or Apple TV.
Saltburn (2023)
UK
UK viewers have two options for watching Fennell’s second film.
It’s available on BBC iPlayer, where you can stream it free if you have a TV Licence.
It’s also available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. While a subscription starts at £5.99 per month for ad-supported access to Prime Video, a 30-day free trial is available. During that time, you can watch Saltburn for free.
Note, however, that if you don’t cancel your subscription before the end of the trial, you’ll be charged £8.99 for a full Amazon Prime account.
You can also rent Saltburn on Prime and Apple TV for £2.99 or buy it for £8.99.
US
Barry Keoghan-led movie can be streamed on Prime Video. Typically, the subscription costs $8.99 per month but you can use a 30-day free trial. It’s a perfect opportunity to watch Saltburn without any cost. Just remember to cancel your subscription before the end of the month to avoid being charged a monthly fee.
Another option is to rent the film for $5.99 or buy it for $5, discounted from $13.79.
