The fairly new Xiaomi 17T features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120-hertz refresh rate, a Leica telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and a 6,500mAh battery. It also comes with 12GB of RAM, 512GB of internal storage and Xiaomi’s HyperOS operating system.
The Xiaomi 17T has only been available since the end of May and has now seen its price drop significantly for the first time on Amazon to just £499. This matches the lowest price recorded so far for this model.
The recommended retail price is £699, meaning you save £200 (or 29%), so it matches the price of the Pixel 10a. You can get the 17T in Violet or Blue in this deal.
Alternatively, you can save £200 on the Xiaomi 17T Pro models, taking the price down to £649 (24% off) for the same 12/512GB model or £749 (21% off) for 1TB and you get upgrades such as 50W wireless charging, a 7,000mAh battery and a 144Hz display.
Unlike the regular 17T, this is a limited time deal available until 5 October.
What the Xiaomi 17T has to offer
The Xiaomi 17T features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. This is designed to make scrolling and animations appear smoother than on conventional 60Hz displays, for example. Xiaomi also incorporates a Super Sunlight Display and Wet Touch Technology 2.0, which should allow you to read the screen clearly even in direct sunlight and operate it easily even with wet fingers.

A standout feature is the built-in Leica telephoto camera. It offers a 5x optical zoom, a 10x zoom with optical quality, and up to 120x AI Ultra Zoom. This means the smartphone is also aimed at users who frequently wish to photograph subjects from a greater distance. The telephoto camera is designed to capture detailed images, whilst the Leica features are tailored for versatile use of the camera functions.
For the battery, Xiaomi has opted for silicon-carbon technology with a capacity of 6500mAh. The high energy density is said to enable a long battery life without the smartphone requiring a particularly large body. According to the manufacturer, up to 17.2 hours of continuous use is possible. This includes, for example, gaming, streaming and everyday tasks. The actual battery life depends on how the device is used.
A 67W HyperCharge system is available for charging. This is said to allow the battery to be fully charged in just 58 minutes. In addition, the smartphone supports 50W PD/PPS fast charging and wired reverse charging at up to 22.5W. This means the Xiaomi 17T can also be used to charge other compatible devices when needed.
Why this offer is worth it
Compared to the RRP of £699, this represents a saving of £200. The smartphone has only been available since the end of May and the price on offer here is the lowest seen on Amazon.
User reviews so far paint a predominantly positive picture, but also point out a few limitations. On Amazon, the Xiaomi 17T has an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from just under 150 reviews.
Several users praise its smooth performance, the camera and the battery life. One user reports that the battery lasts for around two days with intensive use. At the same time, they point out that the smartphone does not have an inductive charging function and that the selfie camera still has room for improvement, particularly in low-light conditions.

More critical comments relate, amongst other things, to the software. One user praises the speed, the battery, the display and the camera, but criticises adverts within HyperOS as well as the pre-installed apps. They also find the menu navigation somewhat cumbersome at times. In addition, they criticise the speakers and consider the software support to be a weak point.
Our review of the Xiaomi 17T is also positive overall with a 4/5 rating. Its strengths include the excellent main and telephoto cameras, the compact and attractive design, the feature-rich software, and the solid battery life and charging capabilities. Drawbacks include the lack of wireless charging, the relatively short software support period and the plastic frame.
In our test, the Xiaomi 17T proved to be an upper-mid-range smartphone with cameras that can hold their own even against top-of-the-range models. Its more manageable size, larger battery and improved telephoto camera are among its key advantages. For most users, the device offers sufficient performance, whilst keen gamers may have different requirements.
