Google has commenced rolling out a new feature that will grant Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 users deeper insights into their phone’s battery usage.
Last month we brought you reports of a new AI-driven battery feature that Google was working on, which would seemingly supply “Battery usage summaries” to Android 17 users.
That feature is now officially rolling out, though initially only to Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 users in the latest AI Core update. This is separate to the freshly announced September Android Drop with five new features.
These Battery usage summaries essentially take all the raw data concerning your phone’s battery usage and translate it into easy-to-parse language.

What are ‘Battery usage summaries’?
Head into the Battery section of the Settings menu, and you should now find a neat summary of how your phone is using its battery.
This will include calling out those power-hungry apps that can see you looking around for a wall charger way before the end of the day (or else shopping around for a phone with better battery life). It’ll also tell you if you’ve been using your phone more or less intensively than usual.
Google says that “Summary outputs vary and highlight the most important info only” on the related support page, so don’t expect a deep dive here. It’s all bright and breezy.
If you’re running one of Google’s more recent phones, you should find that this new feature is active by default. You can turn it off by heading into Settings > Battery & charging > Battery Usage, hitting the More button and selecting Battery usage summaries.
In other Pixel news
In separate news, Google has also tweaked its Now Playing app interface, surfacing track information from the bottom of the screen for easier one-handed access.
The Favourites tab has also received some love, with added dates and times, and everything just looks a little sharper.
