Specifications for a rumoured Honor wide foldable have appeared online, hinting at another potential threat to the iPhone Ultra.
Fresh from giving the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 a serious working over with the Honor Magic V6, the former Huawei sub-brand is preparing to take down Apple’s iPhone Ultra before it even launches.
Following earlier reports that Honor was working on a wide foldable to take on Apple’s bendy debut – not to mention the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) – leaker Digital Chat Station has revealed its key specs.

According to the tipster’s Weibo post, Honor has created an engineering prototype with a 7.6-inch inner screen and a 5.5-inch outer screen. All very much in line with what we’ve heard about Apple’s first foldable.
Another similar spec is the inclusion of just two cameras. In this case there’ll be an eye-catching 200Mp main camera (which sounds a lot like the Magic V6) and a periscope telephoto secondary.
That could well provide a point of contrast with rival wide foldables from Apple and Samsung, which are expected to go with ultra-wide cameras for their second rear lenses.

Honor wide foldable: battery and performance
However, Honor looks set to have the upper hand in a key area: battery capacity. According to Digital Chat Station, it’ll be equipped with a sizeable 7000mAh cell that’s practically unheard of within the (admittedly limited) field of foldables.
References to a 2nm chip point to the use of a next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip, too. They also suggest that it won’t launch until after that chipset launches – likely at the end of September.
We’re not sure how well that component is going to perform, but going by the trajectory of Qualcomm’s flagship mobile chip series to date, it could well give the iPhone Ultra a run for its money. By contrast, Apple’s device is expected to be well under 6000mAh, though software optimisations could still allow it to compete.
Nonetheless, if Honor can launch its wide foldable globally and undercut the pricing of its rivals by a significant amount (admittedly a big ‘if’), it could well force itself into the conversation with this new era of foldables.
